Student Safety

Kennesaw State University (KSU) is committed to providing and maintaining a safe teaching, learning, living, and working environment for all members of its community and to minimize the University’s impact on the environment. The Environmental Health and Safety Department (EHS) is KSU’s source of expertise and assistance on environmental and occupational safety matters and continuously works to keep KSU in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental health and safety laws, rules and regulations. Toward this goal, EHS works collaboratively with the University’s academic units and operations departments. EHS core roles and responsibilities for students include but are not limited to the following:

  • Recycling is a good thing, we at the EHS department started a program in order to recycle used alkaline batteries and empty printer cartridge. Places have been set around the schools campus.
  • KSU provides fire and life safety and event safety consultations for the campus community.
  • Reporting safety incidents and concerns help keep the KSU campuses safe.
    Please report all safety incidents, near misses and safety concerns to EHS.
  • We strive to ensure that every lab is conducive for students to work in.

Employee Safety

The Environmental Health and Safety Department (EHS) is KSU’s source of expertise and assistance on environmental and occupational safety matters and continuously works to keep KSU in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental health and safety laws, rules, and regulations. Toward this goal, EHS works collaboratively with the University’s academic units and operations departments. EHS core roles and responsibilities for employees include but are not limited to the following:

  • All new emmployees, including employees who have been absent from work for one year, must complete a New Employee Safety Orientation Training and Checklist within 30 days of hire.

    Instructions:

    • Sign in to your OwlTrain account.
    • Under “My Assignments,” select “Launch Compliance Training.”
    • Select “Environmental Health and Safety New Employee Training E-C-22-V1 (WBT).”
    • Complete the training in its entirety. Complete all “Test Your Knowledge” activities to the best of your ability. 
    • At the end of the course, you will be prompted to download the New Employee Orientation Safety Training Checklist. This form should be reviewed, completed, and signed by both you and your supervisor to document completion of job-specific orientation provided by the department. Send the completed, signed form to EHS at ehs@kennesaw.edu.
