Universal Waste Management
Universal Waste regulations (40 CFR part 271) include batteries, pesticides, mercury containing equipment and lamps. A small quantity generator is one who accumulates no more than 5,000 kg or about 11,023 lbs of universal waste at any one time. The Environmental Health and Safety Department (EHS) handles universal waste in a manner consistent with regulations by providing sturdy leak-proof containers to the campus community.
